Applied Behavior Analysis
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a widely respected and evidence-based treatment for individuals with autism and other behavioral health conditions. At WAI, ABA is an integral part of our NRTR process, offering structured reinforcement of positive behaviors across different stages of life. Our ABA programs span from children’s behavioral therapy to adult adaptive training, ensuring that each individual receives age-appropriate, situation-specific care.
Overview
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an evidence-based therapy used to improve specific behaviors such as communication, social skills, and learning. It is widely recognized for helping individuals, particularly those on the autism spectrum, to develop functional skills necessary for day-to-day life.
How It's Done
ABA therapy begins with a thorough assessment conducted by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Based on the individual's unique needs, a tailored plan is developed. The therapy typically involves:
- Breaking down complex behaviors into smaller, teachable steps.
- Using positive reinforcement to encourage desired behaviors.
- Collecting data in each session to track progress and make necessary adjustments.
- Therapy in varied settings such as homes, schools, or public places to ensure skills transfer to real-world environments.
